Phase 1 of this library renovation project revolved around the conversion of an under-utilized section of the library’s stacks and a similarly-isolated study area into an improved private study zone, with several separated student work rooms. These improvements allow group projects to be discussed without affecting the rest of the commons, as well as provide a space for students to maximize their focus on their individual work – effectively accommodating the two functions of the learning commons that are most likely to conflict.
